Long Time, No Blog...
You kind of get in that mode where theres something to want to talk about but then you put it off and then you forget because you're too damn lazy to blog. Well, thats been happening for the last month. And honestly, I haven't played as much poker the last few weeks.
Lets start with the league. I went into the final game, needing to make final table to make the main event and was knocked out 15th. Couldn't get anything going in the wild card game and finished 6th. I wound up finishing 12th overall, with the top 9 making the main event. So I got to play in the consolation free roll. I think I played really well. At one point, I really felt unstoppable as I had controll of the entire table. Then I managed to double up 4 players. It was so sick. In no particualr order, I lost all of them. QQ vs AQ, AK vs 55, 1010 vs 33, and bottom two pair on the flop to a better rivered 2 pair. Of course, after losing the last one, I was a little short and was in push mode. I finally was knocked out when I pushed with AQ and ran into AA in the BB. I felt if I would have won just 1 of those 4 hands, I would have taken this thing down. But I guess it just wasn't my day. OVERALL, I was extremely dissappointed with my performance in the league. Yes, I did improve from last season, finishing 12th compared to 19th. I started off really strong and then just tailed off at the end. I must say though, I HATE 12 handed. They say they are going to change it to 9 handed next season which I think is better adapted for my game. Its actually why I'm returning next season. If they were going to keep it 12 handed, I wasn't going to sign up. I guess wish me luck again next season.
I've also played 2 cash sessions and 1 tournament.
Dec 12 Dealer's choice mix game - Lets just say, playing pot limit Omaha O/8, I flopped the nuts on a rainbow board, turned the nuts, river no low but not the nuts anymore and I lost to a runner/runner flush WITH NO OTHER DRAW or hand! Ridiculous. What else can you do when someone is willing to pay $50 total to go running cards in a $.25 game. I wound up losing about $60.
Dec 13 Ultimate Mix tourney - My 3rd time playing and my 3rd time finishing in the money. I took 3rd for a $100 profit. Surprisingly, I've played really well in these mix games which I feel will help me in the long run. I still feel like I should have taken first but I made a mistake 2 to 7 triple draw where I should have drawn a 3rd time but mucked and I was getting the right odds to. Cost me the tourney.
Dec 18 Dealer's Choice mix game - Netted $92.50 profit. My mix game has definitely come a long way since the beginning of the year and I don't feel I'm at a disadvantage anymore. In fact, there are so many other players that only have experience in holdem but like to play mix that I think most mix games can be pretty profitable. Guess time will tell.
Other than that, theres not much going on. We finally got snow that stuck the last week and now its extremely cold here. Christmas is just around the corner so Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everybody!
