I've been meaning to update...
I've been meaning to blog for the last little while but I got sick last week and I've been really unmotivated. Which of course means I shouldn't have played poker when I was sick but I still did and the results showed.
10/9/08 .25/.50 $100 max - I started off the session in the first 1/2 hr with a bang and never looked back. I flopped a set of 3s on a A Q 3 board against a really aggressive player. I led into him on the flop and was called. Turn was a Q which I checkraised and he moved all in on me. I snapcalled and he showed KQ. River bricked and I was up to about 180. After that, I continued to play really well, picking spots. I ended the night +170ish.
10/12/08 - $25 NL Hold em single table tourment - Finished 5th out of 11. I tried to get cute, limping with KK, looking for a chance to double up and sb flopped 2 pair. Took a risk and it didn't pay off.
10/17/08 League - Not feeling well and should not have played. However, I missed the previous week and needed to accumulate points before I fall too far back. I wound up finishing 11th out of 24 but I can't even tell you some of the hands I was involved in because I really don't remember. A few people have made comments that they never seen me play that tight. That will change this week. I am currently 13th in the standings.
10/19/08 .25/.50 $50 max - Again, should have stayed home. Made an error early where I should have called with a straight but didn't (gave the guy WAY too much credit for a boat on a paired board) which then compounded into getting unlucky. Lost a big pot when I flopped trips with J7 in the BB on a board of 677. A girl put me all in and tabled 107. She spiked a 10 on the river and that pretty much sums up how the session went.
I'm starting to feel better now so hopefully I'll have better results this week. I have a cash game scheduled Thurs and the league Friday. If I'm not feeling near 100%, I'll skip the cash game. I don't want to donate. If I have a good showing at the league, I should creep right back into the top 10.
Vegas trip for mid Nov has also been cancelled. Looks like its bad timing for the parties involved so I've decided to nix the whole thing. I still may go down for a weekend some time in the next couple of months. We'll call it an inlaw visit trip.
I know this has been a pretty boring update. Hopefully my next one won't be. Wish me luck!
