Roller Coaster Ride of Poker
League Game #3
After 2 exceptional finishes the first couple weeks, I get knocked out 2nd in week 3, dropping me to 4th overall. I just couldn't get anything going and was knocked out right after the first break. Very dissappointing. This will be my dropper score but I was definitely hoping to continue my success. I'll need a better showing in #4.
On a good note, because I was knocked out so early, I was able to play cash for the first time in a while. We started playing shorthanded .25/.50 NL holdem $100 max which later evolved to full ring dealer's choice. I proceeded to get felted during the holdem round when this hand came up. Open raise from MP to $3.50, I RR with
to $13.50 in LP, hoping to isolate. Button calls as does the orginal raiser. Flop

. MP leads out for $20, I call, as does the button. Turn
and MP checks. I have about $40 behind and push all in. Button calls (not good) and MP folds. I say "guess you have a 9" and button tables
. Dead serious.......River bricks for me and he takes down a monster pot. I say "Wow, you were really looking to gamble there weren't you?" Response "What are you talking about, I had trips". LOL. "I know that on the flop, I'm talking calling a raise/reraise with that". He tells me he'll play any two cards. Sweet. I tell him he can't give people shit anymore for beating him with crazy hands and he starts to get all irritated, saying he doesn't, which he brings up the conversation AGAIN 30 mins down the road when I'm already done talking about it. Whatev. So we continue to play poker.
UTG (same guy with 94o from above) raises to $6.50, 2 MP calls, and I call with
in the BB. Flop

. GIN! I lead out for $8 and immediately get raised by UTG to $28. Perfect! He DOES have a hand. I hollywood, and call. Turn
. I check and he immediately goes AI for $150+. I have about $120 behind and instacall. He turns over his
like they're a monster. LOL. Drawing dead, love it. I didn't hear a peep for a good 2 hrs after that. That hand got my juices going. Reads were dead on after that, making hero calls and winning.
We then played some Omaha/8. I know I'm not that great at this game but these people were TERRIBLE! The two big hands were when I turned quads and got paid off by a boat and a flush. Another hand for the biggest pot of the night, I flopped the nut straight and was called by a flush draw and 2 pair. Luckily the draws didn't get there and I won the pot. Ended the night +$600, winning more than 1st place in the tournament!
Since then, I've played 2 sessions and they have not gone my way. Playing well but luck just not going my way. One particular hand, I check raised in a 3 way pot on the flop (5 bet) and was called by an inside straight draw which got there. Sick. Top 2 vs Bottom 2 and the bottom card pairs. Picked off a bluff with a guy holding Q5o and the board runner/runner straights. Just some gross stuff. But I made the right decisions at the time and I can't do anything about the cards so I'm moving on.
Looking forward to having a good showing tonight in Game #4 and I will be playing 2/5 NL in Wendover this weekend too! Wish me luck!
