Holdem Cash Game

.25/.50 NL Holdem $50 Max

Honestly, I think its been a while since I played a straight NL holdem cash game.  There were going to be 4 new players and 1 player who I only played once with there.  I went in with the mindset of playing ABC poker, at least until I can size up the competition.  Well, it didn't take me long to figure that only 1 of the new players was a worthy opponent.  The others really have no clue.  One of them called an all in on the turn with KQo on a J high board but he had no pair, no draw.  But then there would be times they would turn over KK or AA in spots where it would be impossible to put them on those hands.  Crazy...

I couldn't get anything going at first, depleting my initial stack fo $50 to $30.  I was then able to creep back up to over $50 when AK spiked an ace on the flop and a guy made a move on me with bottom pair.

Crazy hand:  10 spadeT club on the button.  New guy(decent player) who's been fairly quiet, opens UTG+1 to $3.50.  3 callers to me and I RR to $12.  I did this to reduce the field a little and since no one has shown real strength besides the original raiser, I also thought I possibly could take down the pot right there.  Surprisingly, BB calls, original raiser folds, and one of the mp players goes AI for $21.50.  Side note, BB has $10 behind.  Obviously I'm not folding anything here and I actually think I'm ahead against this player.  BB says he's "pot committed" and calls also.  BB has Queen Club7 club and the other player 10 heart8 heart.  No lie.  We decided to run it twice and both boards brick out and I take down a big pot.

After that hand, I couldn't get much going.  I took the foot off the gas for a while and tried to let things come to me but couldn't muster anything.  My pairs wouldn't hold up and my big cards couldn't flop a pair.  After being quiet for a while, I decided to get tricky and raise UTG with 4d card7 Diamond to $3.50.  We go 4 to the flop of Jack Diamond3d8 club.  I continuation bet $6 and get one caller.  Honestly, I really didn't mind getting called there.  Obv I'm pretty sure I'm behind but I still think my outs are live.  Turn 2s and I fire $13.  I can see my opponent is hesitant.  He looks as if he doesn't want to call but he might push.  We were both deep enough where if he pushed, I'd have to fold.  Surprisingly, he only called.  River 6 Diamond.  GIN.  I bet $25 and he called (good sign since he didn't raise) and I take down another big pot.  He showed AJ.  That was the last significant pot of the night for me.

I wound up cashing out $143, for a $93 profit.  On top of that, I was able to gather good information on the new players too which it looks like they may wind up being regulars.  Hope this is good signs of things to come!  Wish me luck in game 3 of the league tonight!
