First cash session of June
.25/.50 NL Holdem $50 max
I felt good today going into the session. I mean, you should always feel good going into a session right? You definitely don't want to sit down and think "I'm going to lose today." Thats just not a good mentality to have. However, since the week off, I was excited to sit down and play some cards. I wanted to pick my spots well and play in position. I started off winning a decent sized pot ($35ish)holding
on the button when my opponent made his flush and I made my full house. I flopped a 6 and it was checked around. Turn 2, SB lead out and I chose to just call as it went heads up to the turn. I figured my hand was good at that point and wanted to see how it develop on the river. River fell another 2, completing the backdoor flush draw, and my opponent led out again. I raised and he called. Nice pot me!
There was definitely some odd plays at the table. One particular hand: 2 limpers, MP raises to $3, I reraise to $9 with
, one of the limper calls and everybody folds. Wtf? Made no sense to me but she's the type of player that honestly, doesn't know what the F she is doing. Flop of course has an ace and a king, and she led out. I didn't want to get too frisky in this spot so I folded. Sometimes in this spot, I like to get crafty and test my opponent to see how strong they really are. Most of the time they hold a mediocre ace in this spot and don't want to get too frisky either.
Later on the night, against the same opponent, I open raise with
with mp and she RR me to $10 in LP. Normally, this screams a bigger pair, possibly AK but I wasn't convince. I called and proceeded cautiously to the flop. Flop came Q high and I checked. Suprisingly, she checked behind. Either I was ahead or she just flopped a set of queens. Only hand I think I'm ahead of here is AK. Of course, turn K. I checked and pretty much done with the hand but she checks behind again. Now I've changed my mind. I think I'm ahead. River fell a harmless rag card. Still thinking I'm good, I checked again, and most likely calling any bet on the river. I decided not to bet because I figure the only hand that calls me, beats me. She checked behind and showed
. Ok.........
During the session, she called me with
, on a 3 flush board and every card was an overcard. Strange but thanks for building my bankroll. Once I got going a little bit, I was raising and reraising holding pretty much air and never had to show down a hand. It was pretty awesome! All in all, netted +32.50 for the night. At this point, I'll take any win!
See you at the felt!
