Finally, a decent win!
May 29, 2008 - .25/.50 NL Holdem $50 max
I went in to this session, planning on playing a little tighter than usual and to make calculated plays. I didn't want to limp with mediocre hands, and if I was going to enter a pot, I was coming in being the aggressor. It started off really well, as my stack never dipped below $40. My first big hand I won was with
when I open raised preflop and got 2 callers. Flop came out 8 high, I lead out for $8ish and LP pushes AI for $30. I call, he tables middle pair, and my overpair holds up.
The other big hand was also with
. I raise in MP to $4 behind a limper, SB reraises to $8, EP limper calls and I call. Flop brings

. SB checks (very curious check by the way), EP goes AI for $45, I call, and after some deliberation (which was a good sign), SB calls for less. SB tables
, EP
and I'm a HUGE favorite. Turn
and both are drawing dead and I take down a big pot.
I felt my read was right on par yesterday. I made moves with air and NEVER had to show any of my hands once. Made some excellent laydowns in the right spots. I raise with
, multiway action flop of

. EP leads out, I raise, everybody folds and he reraises. I fold my hand faceup, (mainly to see if he'd show me his hand) and he tables
. Whatevs (nice call preflop) but he did outflop me and had two pair and I did make the correct lay down.
There is only one hand I was dissappointed on my decision. Not so much dissappointed but I think I shoulda called but I knew I was behind and had to catch up. I limped in with
, MP raises, and we somehow take a 6 way flop of

. Checked to original raiser to who goes AI for $43, pot of about $19. Against ANY one pair, besides KK, its about 50/50. I'm about 99.9% sure I'm behind. Most likely holding is AA. The Pot odds are correct to call, $40 to win $60. However, I laid it down. Sometimes odds aren't the only thing you need to consider when making a decision. I only invested a couple dollars into this pot and I didn't think it was a good spot to go in on.
I finished the night up +106! Not too shabby considering how I've been doing!
I hope things continue on the upswing.

Many who take up the game of poker fall in love with it. They want to play as much as they can, but there are only so many hours in the day.I think Before a schedule can be built, it is a good idea for a player to be realistic about how many times a week they have time to play, and how long they can play.
Thanks for the post!
