Session Updates
Friday March 14, 2008 - Short handed .25/.50
Not much to report from this session. We played well into the night (3am I believe) and I just don't have the brain capacity to dissect this game. I lost my first 5 buy ins to this game. At one point, I was stuck well over $200. I couldn't get anything going early. I made some terrible plays and I knew it too. I began to settle down a bit halfway through. Do you ever get that feeling that nothing is going right so you just start to push the action? Well, that was me early. Somehow in my head I got the idea of "If i'm not going to hit my draws, I might was well play them hard and hope for the best.". Well, they didn't hit and I was a freaking ATM. At least I realized this at some point in the session and took a deep breathe and relaxed a bit. Once I did that, I was able to make better reads and my stacked grew. After being stuck for over 2 bills, I cashed out the night +135. Nice little comeback!
Thursday March 20, 2008 - Full .25/.50 $50 max buyin
Going into this game, I just didn't feel like there was much money to be made. Competition was good and I just didn't really see alot of "dead money" at the table. At one point in the night, my stack depleted to $20 or so and I didn't even know how I got that low. I knew I was playing pretty passive. Uh oh, bad poker. Time to step on the gas. I started playing a little more aggressively and my stack grew without much resistance. I was well on my way to a good night and then this hand came up. I call a $4 raise in MP with
and BB also calls and we take a flop 3 way. Flop:

. BB checks and original raiser leads out. I of course raise 3.5x. BB immediately pushes all in. Oy.....BB is NOT the type of player to push all in on a draw or even a mediocre hand. Original raiser folds and I ask how much more. Luckily he had less than I had (I got a rebate on my raise!) because I'm about 95% sure I'm drawing dead(at least to me at this point its obvious because of my opponent). My opponent tabled
and takes down the pot.
Heres another hand: I limp in on the button with
and take a multiway flop of

. Checks to me and I lead out for $4 and only the sb calls. Turn
and sb leads out for $10. I wasn't quite sure how strong SB was but I felt fairly confident I was still ahead. I was willing to gamble a bit if he was on a draw and didn't raise much, only to $25 total. To my surprise, he pushed over the top. I call (only having $15 left) and he showed
for an open ended straight draw. We ran it twice and river bricked both times.
That was the only other significant hand I can recall throughout the night. I made a few good calls and the only time I got it in bad was with the ass end straight. I played ok and cashed out +30 for the night. I was happy with being positive for the session. I'm going to try and finish off the month with all positive sessions! Wish me luck!
