Thurs Jan 31 - So Sick!
.50/1.00 - I'm only going to talk about one hand because its a very strong indication of how the night went. Table is mostly regulars and I feel I have a decent handle of their games.
The hand: EP raises to $4.50, I make a loose call with QJo in MP, and LP calls. Flop 8 9 10, 2 diamonds (8d9d). GIN! EP leads out for $20. I felt fairly confident that ep had a big pair. He's not really the type of player to continuation bet for that much if he doesn't have anything. LP is a fairly aggressive player and really could have called with anything preflop. In case he does have a flush draw, I wanted him to have to pay for it. However, I didn't want to lose the player leading into me either. I elected to raise to $50, leaving me about ~$90 behind. LP goes into the tank, leading me to believe he's on some type of draw or a pretty strong hand. I'm not too concerned because obviously I have the nuts at the moment and about a 70% favorite to win the hand. After some deliberation, he goes AI for about $300! EP calls for about $110 total(I can't believe he called in this spot) and I instacall for about $150 total for a pot of about $450. EP tables AA (so obvious), I show my QJ for the nut straight, and LP shows 99! Another player says "I mucked 10 8!" Music to my ears! Turn was a 5 and no help to any player. River fell the dreaded 10, giving LP 9s over 10s and he takes down a MONSTER pot. After that, I was pretty mad and it affected my play. Perfect situation, getting all your money in there with the best of it and the cards didn't cooperate. There's really nothing I could do about it but in the heat of the moment, I was just furious. I wouldn't call it tilt (because I was able to recover) but pretty close! I was stuck in the game $300 but managed to fight back to only be down -$120.
There were some other good hands but my memory is a little cloudy. I can only imagine if I would have won that hand. Oh well, I'll get another opportunity soon enough!
Until then.....

You really gotta be aggressive in situations like this. Players who sit on their hands the whole game usually don't come out on top. You won't find me sitting on my hands!
